Imagination meets structure in this creative writing workshop for students who dream of crafting their own fantasy worlds. Students will explore how authors build believable settings, design cultures and magic systems, and write stories that bring those worlds to life.
This two-part series helps young writers move from idea to creation, guiding them step by step as they design their own universe and develop the characters and stories that live within it.
Part I introduces aspiring fantasy authors to the art of building vivid and believable fictional worlds. Students will learn to identify key fantasy elements, craft immersive settings, and design both social and magical structures that make their world feel real.
Through the study of classic literature and guided writing exercises, they will develop an in-depth world-building profile that serves as the foundation for future stories. By the end of Part I, students will have a detailed outline of their fictional world ready to expand in Part II.
Part II builds upon the foundation created in Part I, guiding students through the process of transforming their worlds into complete stories. Using their world-building profiles, students will develop realistic characters, engaging dialogue, and powerful conflicts that bring their settings to life.
With step-by-step guidance and personalized feedback, each student will create a short story or collection of scenes set within their original world.
