Part I: Good interviewing skills matter! Successful interviewing requires knowledge, study, and practice. This all takes time. In Part 1 of this two-part Public Speaking Course the groundwork is laid for success. In this Public Speaking Course students will learn what an interview really is, the research required for an interview, and the basic concepts such as the “Magic of 3,” transitions, and word usage for clear, organized, easy to understand interview question responses. On the last day of class, parents will be invited to hear the students discuss what they learned about interviewing and answer an impromptu question that will test their ability to apply the concepts learned. This class will require nightly homework.
Part II: Continuing from Interviewing Part 1, this Public Speaking Course will use the concepts and knowledge gained in Part 1 as the students come face-to-face with some of the most common interview questions. For each question studied, the student will learn what the question is really asking, the best way to answer the question, and how to create a response to the question. On the last day of class, parents will be invited to hear the students experience a mock interview based on the work done in the course. This class will require nightly homework. Part I must be completed prior to taking Part II.
